Negros Season of Culture features the Heritage Soups of Negros

As August draws to a close and the -Ber months are knocking on my door, I look back to the last two months of my activity on the internet.  For the past sixty days or so, I have been uploading articles and recipes of the heritage soups and recipes from Negros Island.  This task has been done in conjunction with my duties in the Negros Season of Culture wherein I maintain the website ( www.negrosseasonofculture.com ) which basically is a global messaging system that promotes the cultural assets of Negros as shaped by its rich heritage and traditions, the unique identity of the place, and the talent of its people.

A large part of Negrense culture finds its way back into the kitchen, and here we find that a lot of the favorites of Negrenses through the decades come in the form of a soup.  Thus, this focus on soups entitled "Warmth In a Bowl".

At this point in time where "Warmth In a Bowl" ends its run, the Negros Season of Culture would have featured Chicken Ubad with Monggo, Kansi, Laswa, Chicken Binakol, Bas-Uy, Tambo, Fish Tinola, Pancit Molo, KBL and Linutik.

All of these features serve as a pleasant reminder of the days in Negros when these would be enjoyed with family in our ancestral home.  The articles are a perfect response to all of us who cannot visit Negros at this time of the pandemic.  Our best bet to travel back home to Negros Island is through our food - and this is made possible with the Negros Season of Culture's "Warmth In a Bowl" series which also places the spotlight on three young and creative chefs of Negros.

To make your virtual travel back to Negros easier, I am posting below the photos of the soups which serve as links to the recipes and stories.

Bon Appetit and happy virtual travels back to Negros through your palate!
