A new season for The Negros Trade Fair.

Today will be the last day of the 36th Negros Trade Fair at Glorietta . This is the beginning of a new season for the longest running provincial trade fair in the Philippines. One of the most noticeable changes in the fair over the past few days is the country market feel brought about by the new booth providers. Instead of those industrial aluminum booth frames and flourescent lighting reminiscent of run-of-the-mill tiangges, this year's NTF had a homey feel aligned to the NTF's theme of "Hidlaw" (Longing). The booth frames were of wood and made festive with hanging lights.

The first day saw a lot of buyers coming in early in the morning as the mall opened, extending all the way to the evening "Arima" which was attended by Gov. Bong Lacson and team, Mayora Abby Binay, and Ayala Land CEO Bobby Dy.

The other noticeable change is the participation of LGUs sponsoring a common booth for their Small and Medium sized entrepreneurs who would have had a hard time taking on one booth all to themselves. It speaks of unity and cooperation in a more tangible sense. I liked how Cadiz City got 2 booths to showcase the goods of all the entrepreneurs they had in tow. Various SMEs under the banner of Cadiz City.

The most exciting change though happens today, Sunday. In the past, Masskara Night usually happened on a Saturday night. That didn't happen last night and was moved to tonight, Sept 25. I think this is a good move because it ends the NTF on a really high note with the festivities cranking up the celebration tempo and leading into a segue of revelry for the Masskara Festival in October.

If this turns out well tonight, I'm thinking that this will be the trend in the future...last night of the fair closing the activity on a crescendo and breaking into the Masskara mood. Kudos to the ANP and NTF chairperson, Michael Claparols .

All of these point to new beginnings for the Negros Tradefair . Kudos ANP! Kudos Negros Trade Fair team! Hip, hip, Hooray!
