Senatorial Candidate Raffy Alunan : A Gentleman and an Officer

Unknown to many young voters, former DILG Secretary Rafael "Raffy" Alunan III is also an officer in the Armed Forces, listed among its reserve personnel.  One of the respected officers in the Philippine Navy (Marines), Col. Danilo "Nil" Gamboa (retired), had this story to tell of how he had admired Raffy Alunan's values and bond of military friendship and professionalism.

The story goes that one day, while in uniform, General Eduardo Ermita approached the two and commented to Mr. Alunan, "Hey, why are you not yet a general?". 

The swift gentlemanly reply was, "Well, he, (pointing to Col. Nil Gamboa) deserves to be a general more than me; he's served here longer than me!"

With this display of honor and respect to others in the force, it is of little wonder then that men in uniform from the different branches of the armed forces have shown their support to Raffy Alunan (#7) for his Senatorial candidacy.
